Marine renewable energy (MRE) in Oregon

In 2008, the Governor issued an Executive Order directing state agencies to “protect coastal communities in siting wave energy projects”. In 2011, ODFW established the Ocean Energy Project to participate fully in Oregon state efforts to address the needs of this emerging industry and to work proactively to integrate new MRE development in a responsible way. ODFW does not advocate for or against development of MRE off of Oregon, and instead works to identify potential impacts on fish and wildlife potentially affected by such development and ways to avoid, minimize, or mitigate such impacts.
