Sauvie Island Wildlife Area Viewing Platforms

Sauvie Island wildlife viewing at Raccoon Point

Excellent winter and spring birding. See bald eagles, red-tailed hawks and American kestrels in trees and shorebirds including least and western sandpipers, dowitchers and greater yellowlegs in mudflats. Look for sandhill cranes in fields and ducks, geese and swans in open water. Parking permit required.

Sauvie Island wildlife viewing deck

Spectacular winter views of large duck and goose flocks. Great winter sparrow site: song, fox, Lincoln's, golden-crowned, white-crowned and savannah sparrows. Jan. through March, look for bald eagles. Spring and summer are best for songbirds. Parking permit required.
