BEND, Ore. – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will be holding a free youth fishing event at Shevlin Pond on Thursday, June 27 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event will be open to anglers 17-years-old and younger. Loaner rods, reels, and tackle will be available, and ODFW staff and volunteers will be on hand to help participants learn how to bait a hook, cast a and land their catch. In addition, the pond will be stocked with rainbow trout prior to the event.
Kids age 13 and under do not need a fishing license but teens 14 to 17 will need a juvenile angling license. All state fishing regulations apply.
Shevlin Pond is four miles west of Bend on Shevlin Park Market Road. Participant check will be next to Aspen Hall.
