ROSEBURG, Ore. – After being closed to the public for three years due to construction, Rock Creek Hatchery has reopened. Visiting hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Currently, spring chinook salmon, steelhead, rainbow trout and coho from fry to adults can be seen. Visitors can also request a tour of the new fish ladder. The ladder improves access to about 40 miles of stream habitat in Rock Creek basin for salmon, steelhead, sea-run cutthroat trout and Pacific lamprey.
The RockEd educational facility is also open on request, although displays are not yet in place. Visitors can walk the nature path from the building. |
