Fall chinook advisory committee meets in Brookings

January 3 , 2011

ROSEBURG, Ore. – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and the Rogue SMU Fall Chinook Conservation Plan advisory committee will meet Monday, Jan. 10 at the Chetco Public Library, 405 Alder Street, Brookings. The meeting runs 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and the public has time to comment at the end of the meeting.

The committee will review revisions made to two draft management alternatives for fall chinook in the Rogue River Basin. They also will review and discuss ODFW preferences for fall chinook life history conservation criteria.

The conservation plan covers populations of native fall chinook salmon in Oregon streams between Euchre Creek and the California border and the Rogue River Basin. Guided by ODFW’s Native Fish Conservation Policy, the plan will identify desired and conservation status and describe management strategies to reach these goals.
