Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.

Support ODFW’s mission by participating in a College Internship Program! Put your knowledge and interest in wildlife to use and apply for these internship opportunities!

Student interns will be provided practical on-the-job training experience related to wildlife management, data collection, habitat restoration, and wildlife monitoring. The benefit of these opportunities is to recruit and train potential employees seeking careers in wildlife management, research and conservation and develop a great knowledge base of wildlife in Oregon and are expected to gain the ability to develop and refine academic and professional goals as well as understand the structure and operation of a natural resource agency.

Criminal Records/DMV Check
Applicants are subject to both a criminal history and motor vehicles check. Driving is required for all positions. Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current certified driving record for review to be considered for the position. Be prepared to obtain as soon as possible. You are expected to provide the out-of-state certified driving record before an offer can be made unless extenuating circumstances exist. Adverse background and/or driving information may disqualify you from further consideration.

NOTE: Within three days of hire, applicants will be required to complete the U.S. Department Homeland Security's I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. ODFW participates in E-Verify. ODFW is not able to support VISA sponsorships.

To be considered for an internship:

  • You must be a student, currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in a college or university, preferably in a biological/ecological sciences related field, during the internship. You may be required to provide your college transcripts to verify your education status. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

If you have graduated or will be graduating by June 2025, you are not eligible for an internship opportunity.

  • Students are only eligible to participate in one internship with ODFW over the course of their postsecondary education.

Additional Information:

Pay range: $19.77 – $22.23 per hour

Interviews are anticipated to be held via phone, video, or virtual interview.

  • Phase 1 – video submission (week of January 27). A link and more details will be emailed at the close of this recruitment.  
  • Phase 2 – position specific via phone or virtual interview (week of February 18)
