NEWPORT – Oregon fishermen will be asked to help set future Pacific halibut and bottomfish seasons and regulations in four public meetings in August.
All of the meeting will start at 7 p.m. They will be:
- Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Tillamook ODFW office conference room, 4907 Third St., Tillamook;
- Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Holiday Inn Express, 135 SE 32nd St., Newport;
- Monday, Aug. 12, at the Best Western Beachfront Inn, 16008 Boat Basin Road, Brookings;
- Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the North Bend Public Library, 1800 Sherman Ave., North Bend.
“We want to get public input on possible changes to the 2014 Pacific halibut catch sharing plan,” said Lynn Mattes, halibut and groundfish project leader for ODFW. “And we want to start getting input on the 2015-2016 recreational groundfish seasons. This is when anglers need to provide their input on future fishing opportunities.”
