CHARLESTON, Ore. – The public boat ramp and county access road at Bradley Lake just south of Bandon will be closed several weeks this summer for construction. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife expects construction to begin in late July or early August.
The project is currently out to bid. Construction will begin once a contract is awarded.
The contractor will replace the existing boat ramp and add docks that extend to deeper water so anglers without boats can fish for rainbow trout and warmwater species. The project also includes deepening the narrow channel between the boat ramp and main body of the lake. The channel often gets shallow and choked with weeds.
“With most of the shoreline privately owned, the boat ramp provides the only public access to Bradley Lake,” said Mike Gray, Charleston district fish biologist. “We think boaters will be happy with the new ramp and docks that make it easier to board. And people who want to fish from the dock will be able to get to the deeper water.”
ODFW owns the access area and partners with Coos County Parks Department which provides maintenance. This project is funded by a Sport Fish Restoration grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and matched by a facility grant from the Oregon State Marine Board. |
