ODFW Access and Habitat Board emergency teleconference Nov. 4

November 3, 2009

SALEM, Ore. —ODFW’s Access and Habitat Board is holding a teleconference on Wed., Nov. 4 beginning at 9 a.m. to review a grant proposal to reseed 287 acres of deer winter range burned by wildfire in September in Jackson County.

Members of the public are welcome to attend via telephone by calling (888) 476-6131 and providing the participant code, 804246.

Wildfires can destroy wildlife habitat and create conditions for erosion and the invasion of non-native, noxious plants. To help minimize wildfire-caused damage and encourage habitat recovery, the A&H Program has since 2002 been providing emergency grants to private landowners for reseeding lands that have been burned.

The A&H Program funds projects that provide hunter access and/or improve wildlife habitat on private land in Oregon. The program is funded by a $2 surcharge on hunting licenses.

For additional information on attending the meeting call program staff at 503-947-6087. More information about the A&H Program may be found on the Web at www.dfw.state.or.us/AH/.
